Sounds of the Season: Creeping closer

The Muskegon Lumberjacks split a challenging two-game road weekend, and they were able to make further headway in the Eastern Conference playoff chase with the two points earned in Sioux City Saturday night.

Muskegon is now just six points behind the National Team Development Program for the East's sixth and final postseason berth with a large meeting with the NTDP looming Wednesday in Ann Arbor. The Jacks have made up seven points in the standings by going 3-1-1 in the last two weeks.

The Jacks fell 4-2 at Des Moines Friday, but they persisted on their tour of Iowa, gutting out a 3-1 victory the next night against their second straight West foe. Considering the tightly-contested nature of both tilts, one would imagine there are many exciting moments to re-live.

Indeed that is the case, as courtesy of SoundCloud.com, here are your weekly Lumberjacks radio highlights as heard on 92.5 FM The Outlaw. Included are a pair of goals each from Ryan Lomberg and Ryan Bullock, as well as another red light for Tyler Heinonen and some strong saves from goalie John Keeney:

As an audio bonus, I've also included a podcast I recorded with first-year Youngstown Phantoms radio voice Bart Logan, who gave his impressions on the USHL near the end of his first season working for a member club. He also analyzed the Clark Cup playoff chase and laid down some ideas for the USHL to continue to grow in stature and reputation. As always, thanks to my co-host Larry Snyder for lending his talents:
