The Jacks' extended time on the road began last Saturday at Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis. Muskegon entered the third period down 4-2 to the USHL's second-best team, but rallied to tie the score at 4-4 and later 5-5 before falling in OT. Ryan Lomberg and Dakota Klecha each had three points, and Jon Padulo and Tyler Heinonen also scored in one of the most thrilling games of the year! Listen to the highlights here:
Less than 24 hours later, the Jacks gutted out a 4-3 shootout win in Youngstown to finish the season series 4-3-1 against their East rivals. Goalie Hayden Stewart stopped 43 shots, including a late penalty shot, and turned away four of five Phantoms in the shootout, while Lomberg, Padulo and Heinonen all scored for the second straight game. Another exciting contest:
Also, Phantoms PA voice Larry Snyder joined me for another episode of the Gospel of Hockey, this time featuring Dubuque Telegraph-Herald sports editor Jim Leitner. The three of us talked USHL as the battle for the Clark Cup heats up in the final third of the regular season:
Finally, next Saturday (Feb. 25) is Give Blood, Play Hockey Night at L.C. Walker Arena, as the Jacks host the Indiana Ice. Watch as Head Coach Jim McKenzie, team captain Carter Foguth and rambunctious Dean Pawlaczyk fill you in on how you can get involved!
