Forty of the USHL's best NHL prospects will be competing together on the L.C. Walker Arena ice sheet. That alone is more than enough to get me fired up to be in the building Tuesday night as America's top junior league presents this first-of-its-kind showcase.
Add in the fact that I'll be calling the play-by-play for FastHockey.com's exclusive video broadcast of the event, and I'm jacked beyond belief. (Yes, I realize that's a terrible pun made by someone who calls himself the Voice of the Jacks.)
So if you're unable to attend the game (tickets still available!), log onto FastHockey.com to watch the free coverage of the inaugural USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. The folks at FastHockey, led by longtime NHL goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck, are going to put on a content-rich show, including interviews and features along with the game itself.
As for the game itself, Youngstown Phantoms' radio voice Bart Logan will join me for color analysis and general commentary. I'm also happy to tell you fourth-year Voice of the Omaha Lancers Dan Fremuth will be the third member of our broadcast team; Dan will conduct interviews with coaches, players and other hockey luminaries, of which there'll be plenty in the house.
I'm honored to get the nod from the league office to be part of this important night. Thanks to USHL Communications & PR Director Brian Werger and Commissioner Skip Prince for giving me the go-ahead to call the game in my home arena. I'll do my best to represent the Muskegon hockey tradition and the Lumberjacks organization well.
With that, I'll sign off the blog for now. One thing I can promise is that the first Lumberjack to score will get a hearty "That's pure Michigan" goal call from me! Talk to you tomorrow at 7 p.m. on FastHockey.com!
